Cicada's debut single was recorded by Dave Knox at The Source Studio Exeter during the summer of 2026 and was mixed & mastered by Pete Marten. A coveted place in a regional Battle of the Bands proved to be a turning point for Cicada.

Until then, the band had largely built their live experience playing covers. But the competition gave them a reason to push things further — to start writing, experimenting and discovering what Cicada could sound like when the music was entirely their own.

They haven't looked back.

In less than a year, Cicada have gone from playing other people's songs to building a catalogue, identity and live show of their own. Their sound is becoming bigger, more confident and unmistakably theirs — driven by the chemistry of musicians who already had years of playing together behind them.

And people are beginning to take notice.

They've already shared stages with London's Spanish Horses and Colchester punk favourites PET NEEDS, while steadily establishing themselves within the South West's grassroots music scene.

But this still feels like the beginning.

The songs are getting stronger.
The shows are getting bigger.
The sound is getting louder.

Cicada have found their sound.
