Nevik; High-Energy New Wave Punk Rock from Teignmouth, Devon
Loud, energetic and bursting with attitude, Nevik are a four-piece new wave punk rock band from Teignmouth, Devon, combining the raw energy of punk with spoken-word influences, infectious rhythms and lyrics that have something to say.
At the heart of Nevik's music is a surprisingly positive message. While their sound is driven by the rebellious spirit of punk rock, their original songs explore themes of openness, community, love and the world around them. It's music with attitude, but also with purpose.
Nevik have already been making their mark on the Devon live music scene. After finishing as runners-up in Battle of the Bands, they've gone on to perform on the main stage at Sidmouth Sea Fest, open the Ship Inn Music Festival, and appear at the Devon County Show, a Mindfulness Festival and Dawlish's renowned Downtown Music Day.
Their performances are built around the kind of infectious energy that makes punk rock so exciting. With Joe delivering high-octane vocals and a commanding stage presence, Lewis driving the songs forward on drums, Arthur laying down powerful bass lines and Oli bringing fresh energy on lead guitar since joining in September 2026, Nevik are a band who thrive on playing live.
Musically, Nevik blend punk rock, new wave and spoken word, creating original songs that balance raw energy with meaningful lyrics. Their live repertoire also draws on funk, punk and rock influences, bringing variety and spontaneity to their performances.
Young, ambitious and developing their own distinctive sound, Nevik are part of an exciting new generation of Devon bands making original music on their own terms.
The Making of “Greed Wears a Crown”
We first properly encountered Nevik through the Devon Secondary School Battle of the Bands.
Among some brilliant young musicians, Nevik stood out.
There was something refreshingly unpolished about them — and we mean that as a compliment. They had the urgency and attitude that makes punk exciting in the first place.
Watching them, we were reminded of the Dead Kennedys: fast, confrontational and energetic, with something to say rather than simply making noise for the sake of it.
That made getting them into the studio particularly exciting. See the full session here
The song is being Mixed by Pete Marten and is due out this autumn.
